It is FRYSC Appreciation Week, and at Jenkins Independent Schools, we are taking a moment to celebrate the heart of our support system: our amazing Coordinator, Ms. Angie Collins!
The mission of our Family Resource and Youth Services Center is to remove "non-academic barriers" to learning, but Ms. Angie goes above and beyond that every single day. Whether it's:
💚 Ensuring our students have warm coats and shoes for the winter weather,
💚 Providing school supplies and hygiene essentials,
💚 Connecting our families with community resources in times of need, or
💚 Simply being a safe, supportive face for a student who needs a helping hand.
Ms. Angie doesn't just fill gaps; she builds bridges. She makes sure that when our kids walk through the school doors, comfortable and ready to focus on their future.
Ms. Angie, thank you for your tireless dedication to our students and for always putting the "Family" in Jenkins Independent. We are so lucky to have you!

🟢 Cavalier Spotlight: Celebrating Our Guidance Counselors! 🟢
We couldn't let the month go by without celebrating National School Counseling Week and our two incredible counselors: Ms. Kandace Blair and Ms. Candi Richardson!
Our guidance counselors are the compasses of our schools. They work tirelessly to ensure our students are supported emotionally, socially, and academically. They spend their days navigating college applications and career paths, providing a listening ear and a safe space during tough times, and helping students build the social skills they need to succeed. From coordinating schedules to ensuring everyone stays on the path to graduation, their impact is felt in every classroom.
Ms. Kandace and Ms. Candi are more than just advisors; they are advocates for every child who walks through our halls. They help our Cavaliers find their voice and their future.
To Ms. Blair and Ms. Richardson: Thank you for your wisdom, your patience, and your unwavering commitment to our students' well-being. Jenkins Independent is better because of you!

📢 Important Update: Jenkins Independent Schools Calendar Adjustments 📢
Jenkins families, we appreciate your continued flexibility as we navigate this winter season. Having utilized our allotted NTI and "bank days", JIS is taking a proactive approach to ensure our students meet their required instructional time while protecting the end of our school year and SUMMER BREAK!
To ensure our final day for students as Tuesday, May 26th, we will be converting the following dates into traditional school days (in-person attendance expected):
Presidents Day: Monday, February 16
Spring Break: Monday, March 30
Spring Break: Tuesday, March 31
Spring Break: Wednesday, April 1
Looking Ahead:
We will continue to evaluate the calendar moving forward, with the hope that we’ve seen the last of the "unfortunate weather"! Our top priority remains balancing high-quality educational time with the well-deserved summer break for our JIS families.
Thank you for your patience and for your commitment to our students' success!
Go Cavs!

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 11th is the LAST DAY for Doughnut money.
Thursday, February 12th is the LAST DAY for Pee Wee Signup fees.
The Valentine's Day Dance will still take place Thursday, February 12th! Admission is $5. Prek-2nd 5:00-6:00 and 3rd-5th 6:00-7:00 @ Burdine Elementary

With warmer temperatures expected on Monday, we are hopeful conditions will improve and that we can return to school soon.
Monday will be a traditional snow day.
Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

Note: Due to recent weather conditions, our opening games have been rescheduled. Thank you for your patience and for supporting our athletes!
