Gavin

Gavin Gibson, a 2025 graduate of Jenkins High School, was recently awarded the Mike Rowe Works Foundation Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship, sponsored by the renowned television star, is given to 500 aspiring tradespeople across America. The foundation identifies proven skilled workers who plan to join the workforce without a four-year degree.

Mike Rowe's goal is to revitalize the local trades by challenging common myths and misperceptions that deter many students from exploring a vocational career. This fall, Gavin will attend the six-month professional welding program at the Kentucky Welding Institute. Gavin will now essentially be attending professional trade school for free. He credits his time at Jenkins High School and the access to various career and college pathways for his future success in welding.

While at JHS, Gavin was an exceptional Honor Roll student who excelled in the classroom and in various sports. His mother, Kim, also noted that his time at Jenkins "went above and beyond in helping their students reach the stars."

We, here at Jenkins Independent Schools, are excited to see you achieve great things, Gavin! We wish you the best of luck.
