Back-to-Back Wins for JMS

The Cavaliers captured more wins tonight - as they kicked off their Christmas break competing against a very talented and gritty Beaver Creek Middle School.

The Cavalier A team earned a hard fought victory over the Beavers.  As always, point guard, Kannon Wells displayed great athleticism as he glided up and down the court  with lay ups and steals.  Defensive efforts from Ethan “EBay” Bailey allowed him to rack up many deflections, jump ball tie ups and steals - making it hard for the Beavers to get in a continuous productive rhythm.

The JMS power forwards were challenged tonight by the equally sized Beaver Creek Beavers.  However, both, “Marky” Marc Jones and Shawn “Big Guy” Phillips proved to be more than the Beavers could handle with their rebounds, block outs, and post moves. And, BCMS didn’t have an answer for the outside presence of 8th grader, Dylan “Pickle” Wolford.

Both, the JMS B and C Teams also rallied to double digit wins in tonight’s competition.  Strong guard play from Shaun-Michael Collier, Shannon Wolford, and Andrew Newsome, along with spectacular defense from McNeely Twins - Chase and Spencer - allowed the Cavs to take control the game.

Despite the final score of each game, Beaver proved to be a disciplined and well coached team - with the tremendous ball handling skills of their points guards to and the team’s ability to knock down shots from long distance.

Headed in to Christmas, the Cavalier records stand at:

A Team: 11-6

B Team: 12-2

C Team: 11-1

D Team: 8-1
