Welcome Back Cavs!!!! This is the beginning of my second year at Jenkins Ind. Schools. I am very excited with the progress we made last year. The students and staff at Jenkins Ind. Schools are fantastic and I feel blessed to be here as part of the Jenkins Family. As we look forward to a new year I want to make everyone aware of some upcoming initiatives that are in the future for Jenkins Ind. We are going to have Google Chromebooks for all students at the Middle/High. Our logic is today’s world is ever changing and technology driven, so we must prepare our young people to be competitive in the 21st century. Jenkins Ind. has created a new teaching position to address distance learning. Our students need to have access to the same types of classes as any other students in the United States. To accomplish this goal, we are getting creative with distance learning that will allow students to have access to career pathways classes, dual credit, and a variety of Summit Learning classes that they would not have had the opportunity to access. We are working with our partners at Southeast Community and Technical and UPike to give our students access to dual credit and technical training while they are still in high school. Our goal is for each student to have access to the classes they need to be successful. We will be kicking off Leader in Me activities K-12 after Christmas break. This program is to help build character, work ethic, communication, problem solving, and independence in our students. I am very excited to bring this to our students and staff and believe it will be a huge advantage for our district once it is fully implemented.
As you can see we have a lot of things going on here at JIS this year. I want to take the time to thank all of our parents and guardians for trusting us with your children. The most precious thing in all our lives is our children and we appreciate your faith in our schools, staff, and administrators. Let’s make this year a great one!!!! Go Cavs!!!
