The Jenkins Independent School District is partnering with the Go H2O project, a University of Kentucky research project to promote water consumption in school. Over the last several years, schools in Letcher and Knott County School Districts have installed water bottle filling stations and distributed water bottles in an effort to encourage students to drink more water. We are now expanding this project, and we plan to provide water bottles and filling stations for Jenkins students as well.
Your child is in a class selected randomly to help evaluate the impact of this project. At the beginning and end of the year, your child will be asked to complete a brief (10-15 minute) survey on beverage consumption habits. The attached Parental Consent Form answers common questions about participating in research; you are also encouraged to contact Valerie Horn, Field Director of this project, or Mark Swanson, Principal Investigator in charge of the project, at any time. Contact information is below.
In addition to your signature consenting to your child’s participation in research, your child will be given the choice of participating.
Thank you for your willingness to let your child assist in the evaluation of the Go H2O project.
