The Jenkins Ind. Board of Education voted unanimously to create a new teaching position to address distance learning. The title of the new position is Technology Resource Teacher, and the responsibilities will include monitoring and guiding students who take online classes in Career Pathways, Summit Learning, and Dual Credit offerings through university level programs. The creation of this position will allow JIS to be more competitive by offering classes which are personalized, challenging, and to better prepare them for success in the 21st century. The goal of the JIS Board is to provide a high quality personalized education to each and every student while addressing their individual needs and interests. Creating competitive graduates who have experiences equal to or better than graduates from other schools is the goal of JIS. The motion to create this position was made by Ms. Brenda DePriest, and the board voted unanimously to approve the motion. JIS hopes to have the position filled and ready to serve students when school begins August 8th.
